Six to Start

Life, links, and behind the scenes at Six to Start

Four very talented and all-round awesome people have joined our team in the last few months, and I’d like to properly introduce them. In no particular order:

First up is Ernesto Jimenez, our new lead developer. Ernesto is a crack web and mobile software engineer, having won over ten rapid development competitions in Spain, and most recently he worked with a start-up building state-of-the-art services for managing and digitally signing contracts in the browser.

Ernesto’s also an avid game player, designer, and developer, and it’s great to have his skill and experience at Six to Start.

Next is Bryan Hill, Six to Start’s new CEO. Bryan was formerly Senior Vice President at Fifty Lessons, a video company, and prior to that spent nine years in various positions at Getty Images. Bryan brings a real depth of knowledge about running and growing businesses to Six to Start.

Six to Start fans may know Matt Wieteska from his work as an intern on Smokescreen, where he helped design the fiendish counter-terrorism puzzle in Mission 10. Matt joins us as a Junior Producer and Game Designer, and has already served as lead designer on our Enigma Challenge for Wired UK, and on our forthcoming project for New Scientist.

Matt is also an award-winning poet and playwright, and managed the Bedlam Theatre during the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007. His encyclopaedic knowledge of games, movies, theatre, and TV, coupled with a fearsome imagination, is a real gain for Six to Start.

Finally, Belen Albeza joins us as a developer and designer. Belen’s an expert software engineer and front-end developer on the web and mobile platforms, including the iPhone. She’s also won several development competitions in Spain, in rapid game development, rich internet applications, and web mashups.

As if that weren’t enough, Belen is also the author of an XHTML and CSS manual that’s widely used in universities and high schools, and she’s a talented artist and graphic designer.

I’m very proud of the new additions to the Six to Start team, and I know we’ll continue to do amazing things that mix storytelling, play, and social interaction. We’ve got some very exciting projects in the works, most of which we can’t talk about yet, but we’ll definitely keep you posted!
